Anniversary of the Late Jim Henson's in National Museum of American History

Anniversary of the Late Jim Henson's in National Museum of American History
On the anniversary of the late Jim Henson's birthday, the National Museum of American History received a donation unlike any other. Twenty Jim Henson puppets, including some of the very first constructed of the famous characters (see below for a green Grover), will go on view in the museum later this year and early next. Some of Henson's most beloved characters from The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, and Fraggle Rock had to first be prepared for the donation ceremony. Lucky for us, intern Leanne Elston got these fun behind-the-scenes shots and gave us some insight into what went on backstage. Here's an excerpt.

After the coastline had receded seaward (it is now at a distance of about 5 kilometres (3.1 miles) from Skógar), the former sea cliffs remained, parallel to the coast over hundreds of kilometres, creating together with some mountains a clear border between the coastal lowlands and the Highlands of Iceland.

Beautiful Green Tramways in Europe

Beautiful Green Tramways in Europe

Tram tracks on many European cities are lined with grass, a practice that probably started in the 1980’s to bring greenery back to city space and at the same time, provide habitable zone for numerous insects and invertebrates. These swaths of green provide a host of benefits to any urban area, like reduce urban heat island effect, provide a permeable surface for storm water to infiltrate, reduce pollution and absorb noise generated by the grinding of metal wheels on metal tracks. Not to mention, they look incredibly good in comparison to concrete or asphalt

By simply drawing on each side of his model's head with common makeup products like eyeliner and lipstick, Bieniek transforms the young woman into a eerie set of twins. He cleverly uses one of her own eyes and another drawn eye, applied further towards her temple, to simulate a forward-facing female on the side of her actual face.
